Paul Applebaum

Picture
Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Paul has been a trial lawyer his entire career and particularly focuses on representing minority civil rights plaintiffs.  Many of Paul's cases have involved claims against St. Paul and Minneapolis police officers, though his experience extends well beyond the Twin Cities Metro area alone.  Paul has successfully sued out lawsuits against police officers throughout Minnesota as well as in other states.

Paul is also a veteran criminal defense attorney and has spent the last 20+ years defending his client's rights with diligence and determination.  Paul has appeared in state and federal courts throughout the United States and over the course of his career, has successfully resolved over hundreds of civil rights and criminal cases in favor of his clients.  His courtroom demeanor is tough, to the point, and ultimately tethered to the best interests of his clients.  Drawing from a two decade long career, experience and expertise ensure the highest caliber of representation.

Awards

In 2011, Paul was the recipient of the Innocence Project of Minnesota's "Never Forgotten Award.”   The award was presented at their annual benefit following a key-note speech by Paul’s client who had recently been released from prison after serving a 6 years of a 14 year sentence.   Paul took on the post-conviction case pro bono and was successful in overturning the wrongful conviction of a father, accused of murdering of his infant daughter.
